The second race of the 2024 Formula 1 championship takes place tomorrow at the Jeddah-Corniche International Circuit, one of the calendar’s street circuits, and the drivers are ready to fight for points at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
Among the teams that already managed to see improvements from the Bahrain race was Aston Martin as Fernando Alonso managed to place P4 behind Verstappen, Perez and Leclerc and team-mate Lance Stroll placed P10 in what was a very tight qualifying.
The Canadian driver said he found the session very exciting due to the nature of the circuit, which is among the fastest in the world (with drivers exceeding 320 km/h on the main straight): “Yeah it was exciting , it’s always exciting here, qualifying, you know? Close to the walls, high speed, yeah”.
Last weekend, after contact with Hulkenberg, Stroll went to the back of the grid and managed to finish the race in P10, which he found satisfactory.
However, he says there are still some changes to be made to the car and also mentioned they need to improve their time management: “Yeah, I hope our race pace is good its going to be all about time management, we were struggling a little bit with that on Thursday, but we made some changes in the car, so hopefully that is better tomorrow”.
“I mean there are little things to work on the car and I think it’s good, over one lap struggled a little bit on the race in Bahrein but hopefully tomorrow we’ll have a better day”.
Finally, the Montréal-born driver did not miss the opportunity to praise young Oliver “Ollie” Bearman, who, due to the appendicitis suffered by Carlos Sainz, took part in qualifying in 11th place and will compete tomorrow in the Spaniard’s SF-24: “And shout-out to Ollie Bearman, he had a tough day and he did very well .”
“I can imagine it’s hard to be in the car for the first time on a track like Jeddah so, well done, them!”.
