Toyota has unveiled the car and identity it will use to pursue the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) crown in 2026, signalling a new chapter for the most successful manufacturer in the series’ history.

The Japanese marque introduced the updated TR010 HYBRID Hypercar alongside a striking visual redesign and a rebranded team name ahead of the upcoming campaign.

A legacy of success in FIA WEC

Since joining the championship during its inaugural 2012 season, Toyota has built an unparalleled record in modern endurance racing. Over that period, the manufacturer has secured six Drivers’ Championships and seven Manufacturers’ titles, establishing itself as the benchmark in the FIA WEC paddock.

However, the 2025 season proved unusually challenging for the team. Despite consistent performances, Toyota managed only a single victory, which arrived during the championship finale in Bahrain with the ageing GR010 HYBRID. Consequently, the manufacturer has responded with a significant update package for the upcoming campaign.

For the 2026 season, Toyota will field the newly updated TR010 HYBRID Hypercar. Engineers have implemented several key changes to the prototype using the championship’s ‘Evo’ joker development system.

The upgrades focus primarily on aerodynamic and bodywork refinements. The team has redesigned the front end, sidepods, engine cover and rear wing in an effort to enhance performance and competitiveness against an increasingly strong Hypercar field. These modifications represent the most substantial evolution of Toyota’s prototype since the introduction of the current regulations.

Striking red livery and new team identity for Toyota in 2026 WEC but driver line-ups remain unchanged

In addition to the technical updates, Toyota has introduced a dramatic visual transformation. The predominantly black livery used in recent seasons has been replaced by a bold red design. The new look draws strong inspiration from the GT-One-inspired retro livery carried by the #7 entry during the 2025 24 Hours of Le Mans.

At the same time, the team will compete under a new banner. Both cars will race under the TOYOTA RACING name, replacing the long-standing TOYOTA GAZOO Racing moniker. The rebrand marks a symbolic shift as Toyota begins its latest title campaign.

While the car and team identity have evolved, Toyota has chosen to retain the same driver pairings that competed in the previous season. The #7 TR010 HYBRID will once again feature the trio of Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi and Nyck de Vries. Meanwhile, the sister #8 entry will continue with the experienced line-up of Sébastien Buemi, Brendon Hartley and Ryō Hirakawa.

By maintaining stability within its driver roster, Toyota aims to combine continuity with the performance gains expected from the updated prototype.

Renewed push for the championship

Ultimately, Toyota hopes the technical upgrades and fresh identity will help it return to the top of the FIA World Endurance Championship standings.

With the Hypercar category growing ever more competitive, the 2026 campaign promises another intense battle for supremacy as the Japanese manufacturer seeks to reclaim the title it has won so often in the past.
