Max Verstappen has named the circuits he would most like to see on the Formula 1 calendar.

With Formula 1 expanding into new circuits recently, notably Miami hosting its second race this season and the inaugural race to come in Las Vegas later this year, the question has been asked ‘will there be more races popping up in the US’?

Reigning Formula One World Champion Max Verstappen stated that he would relish the opportunity of more races stateside but insists he prefers permanent tracks to the modern street circuit layout.

“I like a normal circuit more, but I really like to come to America. I find a normal circuit, such as in Austin for example, a bit more challenging. However, the city itself, Miami, is a lot of fun,” the two-time World Champion said during a media session ahead of the Miami Grand Prix.

With Verstappen’s experience in Esports he has raced a lot of tracks virtually in the US and pinpointed which tracks he would love to experience in F1.

He includes Road America, a regular fixture on the IndyCar schedule.

“I like Virginia too, maybe in an F1 car a little less, but for GTs it is a good track. Road America is also very beautiful. They are fast circuits, but if you drive on a certain circuit, then there must always be a certain adjustment to the circuit [required to meet the FIA’s Grade 1 for Formula 1 events].”

During the 2020 COVID affected season Formula one raced in many historic tracks around Europe and Verstappen pointed towards Mugello when asked which one he would bring back permanently.

“I do want to see Mugello again. I haven’t raced that much there either, just two turns!”

Verstappen’s Tuscan GP only lasted a few corners before he was involved in a collision on the opening lap with Pierre Gasly, Kimi Raikkonen and Romain Grosjean. He had been dropping through the order after having no power at the start before ending up in the gravel following the aforementioned incident.

“The circuit is very nice. Like Imola, that’s also a nice circuit, absolutely,” concluded the 25-year-old.
