Weather impacted first Indy 500 practice at IMS Speedway topped by Dixon with a speed of 229.107mph

The session, which started at 9am ET, lasted a mere 23 minutes before being interrupted by adverse weather conditions.

The cars would not return to the track for the rest of the day after it was announced at 2pm ET that the rest of the session would be cancelled.

Wednesday’s action has been rescheduled to 10am to 6pm ET.

The most laps completed in practice was thirteen by Felix Rosenqvist, Kyle Kirkwood and Scott McLauglin.

Behind Dixon, came 2020 Indy 500 pole-sitter Marco Andretti with the top 3 being rounded out by the returning 2 Time 500 winner Takuma Sato, who found a ride with RLL. 

Then came the first Chevy, as Pato O’Ward put his Arrow McLaren P4 with a speed of 224.993.

Places 5-9 were all Hondas courtesy of Christian Lundgaard, 4 time Indy 500 winner Helio Castroneves, Colton Herta, Felix Rosenqvist and Kyle Kirkwood.

Sting Ray Robb completed the top 10 for AJ Foyt with a speed of 221.862. 

Two drivers failed to set a time as winner of the Sonsio Grand Prix, and now championship leader Alex Palou, found himself at the bottom of the results table. 

The other driver who didn’t set a time was Katherine Legge for Dale Coyne Racing.
