Mercedes and Red Bull bosses Toto Wolff and Christian Horner have given their first reactions to Lewis Hamilton appearing in Scuderia Ferrari F1 colours.

The social media world blew up last week as the seven-time World Champion posed for his first photo at Maranello. At the time of writing this, it has reached 5.6 million likes — by far the most liked F1 related post.

On Wednesday in Barcelona, the 40-year-old had his first trip to the barriers. He lost the car in the last sector, crashing out. The SF-23 was heavily damaged.

Toto Wolff delivers a funny example to describe Lewis Hamilton in Ferrari F1 gear

For the first time since 2012, Lewis Hamilton will not be starting the season at Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team. In fact, Australia 2025 will be his first race in F1 where he will not be driving a Mercedes—powered car.

The 2025 season will also mark the first time Mercedes has not had a World Champion in their driver line-up since returning to the sport in 2010.

Speaking to Sky Sports F1 at the Autosport Awards, Toto Wolff described the feeling of seeing him in red with a very amusing example.

Nonethless, the Austrian is very happy for Lewis Hamilton. Together the pair won six Drivers’ Championships and eight Constructors’ Championships.

“Yeah, it’s a little bit like you divorce amicably and it’s all good — and then you see your partner for the first time with a new friend.

“But I’m really happy for him and I told him that those pictures were iconic that he made. That was so well curated, and [it’s] no surprise with Lewis.”

Christian Horner also gives his opinion on seeing Lewis Hamilton in Ferrari F1 red

Unlike his fierce rival Toto Wolff, Christian Horner has never got the chance to work alongside the seven-time F1 World Champion.

Heading into his 21st season as Red Bull team principal, Horner is aware of the significance of the move.

“I’ve seen some pictures, I think it suits him.

“I think it’s great for Formula 1, Lewis Hamilton in a Ferrari, that really is box office. I think it’s just another dynamic for this year that could be super exciting.”
