Charlie Wurz’s rookie F3 season with Jenzer Motorsport was ultimately a disappointing one, with the Austrian driver finishing 22nd in the 2024 FIA Formula 3 championship. He will, however, have a second chance to fight for the F3 championship title. Wurz joins Noah Strømsted and Rafael Câmara at Trident for the 2025 F3 season.
Wurz looking forward to 2025 F3 season opener in Melbourne
Despite the near-endless disappointment, however, Wurz did have one notable bright point. In the Melbourne round, he finished fifth in the feature race, taking his only ten points of the season.
At a recent media event attended by Pit Debrief, Wurz stated that he was happy to return to Melbourne as it was “a good track” for him, even on the simulator.
“I think Melbourne was a good track for me. I really like it. Even on the Sim, just driving it there, it’s a lot of fun. So I’m very happy to go back.”
The Austrian driver believes that his experience from 2024 would be an asset as he entered the 2025 season, especially as he would start his season at a track that had treated him more kindly than others.
“I think last season we were also a bit unlucky in some other places. But in the end, to have Melbourne as the first round, being a second-year driver, I think having the experience of the track is definitely beneficial. So I’m going back. I’m really looking forward to it. “
With this experience under his belt, the Austrian driver believes that he can do better than he did in 2024. Wurz explained that he had had a good pre-season with his new team Trident, and is comfortable in the car ahead of the 2025 F3 season.
“I think I can do better than I did.”
“Being with Trident, we have a great car, I think. Already in the three days of testing, we could feel it was very nice and it’s very fun to drive already.”
The Austrian concluded, “So I’m excited for Melbourne and [to] see what we can do.”
