Felix Rosenqvist switched to Meyer Shank Racing from Arrow McLaren over the winter in IndyCar and opened up on his start with his new team.

The Swede finished seventh at the season opener at St. Petersburg after qualifying on the front row — setting a lap record during the Fast 12 in the process — before taking third place in the non-championship $1 million challenge at The Thermal Club.

Rosenqvist is delighted with his start to the campaign and feels his driving style suits the car: “The car has just been really good and suits my driving style.

“I normally try to tell myself that I don’t have a specific driving style, but I think deep down I know I do, and this car has certainly made getting up to speed very easy. We’ve been firing on all cylinders straight out the gate.”

Meyer Shank Racing has a highly experienced lineup. Rosenqvist is teamed up with 30-year-old Tom Blomqvist, who is competing in his first full IndyCar season.

The team have struggled in recent times, failing to take victory since Helio Castroneves’ triumph at the Indy 500 in 2021.

PREMA has recently been announced as a new entrant to IndyCar in 2025, running two Chevrolet-powered cars.

The Italian team have swept all before them in Europe, taking 80 titles since they were founded in 1983.

Rosenqvist won the 2015 FIA F3 European Championship with the outfit, beating F1 race winners Charles Leclerc and George Russell.

The 32-year-old kept up his success with PREMA when he won the prestigious Macau Grand Prix in 2014 and took victory for a second time the year after.

He is delighted to see PREMA join IndyCar and is confident they will be competitive: “They’ll be strong competitors, maybe not the first year, but they will, I think, be a contender pretty quickly,” Rosenqvist said. “I’m sure they’re trying to hire some clever people here in the U.S.

“I’m super happy they’re coming here, and hopefully, it’ll bring some eyes from Europe onto IndyCar as well.”

The IndyCar season is entering a very busy period, with four races in just over a month, beginning at Long Beach this weekend leading up to the Indy 500 on May 26th.
