Formula E returns to Italy as the Season 10 cars are on track for the first time ever in Misano, with every driver out on track apart from Maserati’s Jehan Daruvala, Buemi and Mortara. The Indian driver was able to come out on track eight minutes into the session, whereas the Swiss driver was suffering from a technical issue.

The 30 minutes long practise session also featured the standard full course yellow test. The first time on the table is set by Envision’s Frijns in 2:00.540s. Ten minutes into the session, the two DS cars are leading, with Vergen’s 1:19.640s ahead of his teammates by three tenths.

Frijns’s Envision ran wide off track, but was able to quickly resume his run. In between the golden cars duo the papaya of Hughes’s McLaren slotted in provisional P2. Wehrlein stopped at the pits, while Vandoorne had a short trip in the gravel.

At the halfway point in the session, a yellow flag was issued as Gunther stopped near the track at Turn 12, mentioning a brake malfunction. The Tokyo E-Prix winner was able to return slowly to the pits without the need for a red flag.

With ten minutes to go Cassidy leads with a 1:18.140s from Wehrlein and Dennis. The three of them are the only drivers to have lapped in the 1:18s so far alongside Da Costa, times which align with the best efforts from the previous earlier Rookie free practise session.

ABT’s Muller has been investigated for overpower in the straight. Vergne returns into the lead with five minutes to spare as the first driver to lap in the 1:17s, but it’s very short lasted as former championship leader Cassidy improves his effort by only 0.007s.

The Kiwi driver will definitely be in the hunt for aa podium finish this weekend, after losing the lead due to two very underwhelming races in a row ad scoring only 4 points.

DS’s strong pace is shown also by Vandoorne’s ability to return on the provisional podium. In the final, heated moments of the session, Muller and Evans battle for P3, but there’s room for more cycling at that spot after the chequered flag with the final flying laps as Daruvala has a brief moment of joy in third.

The session ended with a DS 1-2 and the two times FE champion ahead of the one time championship winner. Cassidy rounds off the top three, with Daruvala and his teammate Mitch Evans in the top 5.

Tune in tomorrow at 15 CET for the first race of the weekend!
